CLOISTER
Cloister of the Orange Trees
Indigo-blue walls, orange trees and tempera murals
About this space
The Cloister of the Orange Trees is one of the monastery's most photographed spaces. Its walls, painted in the iconic indigo blue of Arequipa, contrast with the orange trees of the central courtyard, creating a serene atmosphere that has framed centuries of conventual life.
The tempera murals — featuring birds, flowers and the *Soul and Divine Love* series — are a unique testimony of colonial religious art. The cloister's natural acoustics, its sillar arches and the filtered light turn it into an exceptional setting.
Today it is the favourite venue for civil and religious weddings, institutional cocktails and photo sessions in search of the visual force of a living heritage.
